Update my Application?

I was recently awarded a DoD summer internship through a different program than the SMART scholarship. Would it be a good idea to email SMART about possibly adding a note about this on my application? The place I will be working at is not one of my preferred facilities, but I think it would be nice to inform them anyways. I can also see why it wouldn't be a great idea either... will it hurt to try emailing?
