Hello, I'm a current rising freshmen / highschool senior interested in applying for the Dellums SMART scholarship. I am pursing a bachlors degree in computer science. Here are my current qualifications / information.
- 4.1 GPA.
- 6 years of programming exeperience in c#.
- 3 years of experience with machine learning, including a custom tensorflow wrapper in c#.
- 3 years of experience in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality development, which is my current passion.
- 6 months freelancing contract working on virtual reality simulation for job training.
- Experience with ASPX and web app development in .NET.
I also just got back from a year abroad in Europe, and am now fluent in Dutch. I am a very social person and a fast learner. My current worries are that, as a highschooler, I have extremely limited work experience in computer science. I understand however, that with the Dellums scholarship they likely don't expect proffesionals. In my free time I compete in MMA and have an interest in studying foreign language.
I would love to hear criticisms and advice. If there are any other computer science applicants, what are some project ideas I can create before I apply to really boost my portfolio? I would also love to hear if there is a realistic possibility of recieving a scholarship, or if hoping is ridiculous. Another worry of mine is that I have no AP courses, as I was abroad my junior year and will be taking them now in my senior year. Any advice / critique is greatly appreciated.
