At NASA they only cared if it was a technology degree or not. So master of mechanical engineering is fine for any job, but master of mechanical engineering technology is limited to technician positions like running the machine shops. You're also based on years for pay. Masters jumps you two pay grades no rules as to if it's M.S., M.A. or MEng.
