Internships for 4 year award

On the requirements for the scholarship, it lists at least one internship. However I just found out on a different page for some reason, we are to do internships with facilities for every summer? Has anyone been able to do only one summer internship for a multi year award? This doesnt make sense we would need to keep doing internships as we are not paid.
