When would the internship period start?

I'm a semi-finalist who also has an internship with a FAANG company lined up for the Summer.

In the event I receive the scholarship, does the internship start the following Summer (2022) or would it start this Summer (2021)? If it is in 2021, is there a possibility of deferring? Has it ever been done before?

The summer internship begins in summer 2022 (assuming you get it). If you are accepted, you also will have to do a site visit at your sponsoring facility for a day or two in the summer of 2021 around July-ish. I am a semi-finalist this year, but I have heard that some places did virtual site visits last summer, though I wouldn't expect that this year.
