Curious as to what the pay is for employees who just graduated with a bachelors. Is it GS7 Step 1? What determines Steps?

Really depends on the agency.

Mine will start a BS ME at mid GS-9.

Hey, what level do Masters Mechanical Engineers get hired at?

Also would you be able to provide what branch you are? Navy, Army, Air Force, etc.

A master’s degree would start at around 11 step 4. We have a structured development program with guaranteed promotions the first 5 years, in addition to annual performance based raises. Bachelor’s will have 3 promotions in that 5 year period and end mid to upper GS-12 depending on performance.

We actually use a performance based system as opposed to GS scale but roughly follows GS mins/max.

As stated in other thread I don’t want to disclose too much about my agency as I don’t want to make others look bad but feel free to infer whatever you wish from my handle.
